First Impression; Witty, Charming, Personable. Behaviors; Lily is the type of girl who is not afraid to talk to anyone. She has no problem making a stranger a life long friend, rather enjoying putting people on the spot and getting to the root of things. Because of this, she often can be found with a gaggle of people, always surrounded by people she sees good in, that she can relate to. This however doesn't stop the fact that few people know her.
A person who lives for addiction, Lily suffers from the big four addictions in life. Coffee, cigarettes, sugar, and shopping. Though she tries to control them all, their is barely a day that goes by without several cups of coffee, half a pack of cigarettes, at least one pastry, and a shopping spree. She wishes she was stronger then these addictions but does little to curve them.
A ball of energy, Lily much rather dance around in her underwear, go walking the city through the rain, or join a couple friends at a quiet jazz bar then sit around and do nothing. This would explain why she works so hard, dedicating most of her time to the radio station and her column, uncomfortable with the idea of having nothing to do. She often gets anxious when their is nothing to clean, no one to go out with, and no work to accomplish.
When it comes to relationships, Lily is straight forward. She dislikes mind games and prefers men who are intelligent, artistic, and loyal. She doesn't like smooth operators, the play boys, though she usually is their best friend. In truth a man has to not only be superficially attractive to attract her attention, but mentally attractive as well. Dark, twisty, and damaged hardly wets her appetite.
History; Some people are never meant to raise children. They are great people, usually ones who know so much and have so much to share... but do not know the fundamentals of raising a child. For instance, a three year old should not be left alone watching TV in the middle of the night while the parent labors endlessly over his novel in the next room. Another example of this would be whiskey is NOT good for a toothache. But you deal with what you get, and Lily got a great American novelist who knows nothing about children.
It was mid-July, nine months after a brief affair with a professor that a sweaty and sick Rose Worcester gave birth on campus in front of several medical students only to die due to bleeding out - having had many stress related complications during the birthing process. At the age of twenty, she was leaving behind a child only her roommate new the father of - an issue that days later came into affect with Robert Grey as he stood in a police station with a social worker, being explained the situation and his options with the new child. Robert, hardly an optimist, was tempted to give the child up for adoption or to the child's grandparents on the other side however, during a rant about responsibility with the social worker, the child yawned, her blue eyes opening only to almost glare at him... and he knew what he had to do.
Though he did many traveling lectures, taught literature classes around the world at top universities, and had no idea how to deal with being a parent, somehow over the next sixteen years, Robert Grey pulled off being a parent. Lily Eleanor Grey was given every advantage in life. From loving nannies, tutors during the summer, to more manors then she knew what to do with - she lived the cultured life of book signings, opera, Manhattan, and universities. Often her babysitters were young graduate students who were sleeping with her father - somehow lost and fascinated by his 'impressive' mind. She never minded this however, feeling honored to learn from the best - the best being her sometimes pretentious and always tenacious father.
It was when she was around eight that her father started settling down, finding one woman in particular of interest. It was weird for him to settle, Lily to this day being sure half of it was to provide her with balance though balance was hardly needed. And so, as his relationship grew, so did a baby brother - one for Lily to coo and awe over endlessly even if his favorite activity was pulling her hair.
At sixteen Lily received her high school diploma, an act not due to an abundant amount of intelligence but granted due to her endless summers of tutoring. With graduation came North Eastern. There she attended as a literary student though found fascination with the local radio station... or at least one of it's DJ's. She began an internship to spend time with young DJ - their relationship slowly declining as she was put on air by a station manager. It finally ending when she became an on air personality, earning the top slot as most listened to.
Robert didn't agree with Lily becoming a DJ, finding it beneath her intellect, a waste of all her potential, which is half the reason she didn't give up writing - taking up several online columns before finding a magazine which publishes her weekly under an alias name.
At the age of twenty-seven, Lily has a degree in English Literature, a degree in Communications, and is considering attending college again for a degree in history. She currently is living with her boyfriend and the love of her life Lucas, who also happens to be her producer and station manager.
20 Facts To Who Lily Is#01; Marc Jacobs, Prada, Gucci. Lily, though she tries not to be, is a complete label whore. She loves clean lines, basic colors of black, white, and grey. She lives for shoes and would sell her soul for her collection of bags. #02; When it comes to being in the kitchen, Lily's biggest talent is burning toast. She can literately not cook to save her life, a reason she often eats at the finer restaurants in Seattle, many hostess and waiters knowing her personally. #03; Lily has been working the morning show in Seattle now for a little over four years. She has had many co-stars though all seem to eventually leave for a lower position at another station. She assumes their reason for leaving is sick of always being proven wrong - though she refuses to stop doing it. #04; Musically, Lily is eclectic. She loves the rat pack, jazz, blues, rock, classic rock, country, soft rock, contemporary, pop music, classical, etc. She listens to a lot of John Mayer recently, has a weakness for Pete Murray, and would secretly kill her fiance for a chance at Chris Isaak. #05; Shabby-Chic is easily Lily's style. She often redecorates with the seasons, something that drives Lucas crazy since he seems to hate change but he deals with it nicely. Like within her fashion choices, once again clean lines are desired with metal tones. Though she can't get enough of warm woods, cool colors, and splashes of red. #06; Lily has a touch of OCD. She tends to freak out if things aren't in order - a reason why her office and all her belongings are forever in designated places. She often fears ending up something like monk from that USA TV show. #07; Holidays mean over-board. Any holiday that has decoration and cheer means Lily doing whatever it takes to bring the holiday to life. Be it over decorating, having cookie coloring parties, and wrapping pristine gifts at Christmas or coloring eggs, buying a lot of Easter lily's, and giving everyone chocolate bunnies. It's exhausting knowing her really. #08; Lily's favorite hobby, besides shopping, is stealing Lucas away from work by taking him into a janitors closet for a small make-out session. Though she knows this act is silly and juvenile, since she never really dated in high school, she looks at these acts of making up for what she lost out on years ago. #09; Tequila makes her clothes come off, Vodka makes her crawl on the floor, and whiskey makes her pass out. On a whole Lily tries only to drink wine, finding it's the only alcohol with little effect on her behavior. #10; Lily has three tattoos hidden on her body. The first being a small heart on her right pelvis, the second being across the way on her left pelvis of a kitten, and the third being the cancer sign on the back of her neck, mostly hidden from her hair line. #11; If she could change one body part of hers, Lily would give herself perkier and slightly bigger breast. She sometimes feels hers are beginning to sag to early in life. #12; Alden means EVERYTHING to Lily. As siblings go, to him, Lily is over protective and often plays the dear Abby in his love life. She never wants anything bad to ever happen to him, something that causes her great pain. She would put him in a plastic safety bubble if she could in all honesty. #13; Cell phone Betty. Lily literately txts over a hundred messages a day, talks on the phone for over three hours a day, and cries every time her cell phone looses signal. This is why she has verizon, she hardly loses signal ever with them. #14; Sleep is a pointless activity unless it includes nakedness, cuddling, and the potential of getting naughty. She hates to admit she's a bit of a horn dog, often worse then a guy about wanting and needing physical attention - but if she is laying on a bed, she is most likely in the mood. #15; Though Lily wants to have children, she fears she may not be cut out to raise a child. While a neutering person in general, she isn't sure if she'll be good at giving up her career for a family. She fears that will ruin her marriage eventually with Lucas. #16; Lily goes to a spa every two weeks to get her nails, hair, and skin treated. She fears if she doesn't, she'll begin to look like Mary, her step-mom who is a naturalist aka no make up, no hair cuts, no nails done, no primping. This is indeed her WORST fear. #17; Lily loves sports. Hockey being her favorite. Her father she blames for her obsession of watching the games and always know the scores. If she records a game, she makes it clear on air that if anyone ruins it and tells her the score or a power play, she'll make sure their life is a living hell. #18; True love, soul mates, and love ever lasting do not exist in Lily's mind. She believes you can love someone and dedicate yourself to someone, but the whole idea of one person on earth to fit you makes little sense. She however doesn't tell that to Lucas. #19; Squeaky breaks drive Lily insane more than nails on a chalk board. She often winces at high pitched noises, scrunches her nose, and then grumbles about it for a good five minutes afterward. Because of this, she is a taxi-drivers worse nightmare. #20; If Lily could try another career for a day, with no repercussions, she would want to be a stripper - finding the idea of having that much undivided attention from men at once interesting. |
